Phyllis Michael Wong: The Gossard Girls and Their Quilts, Artifacts of History

Join the Quilt Alliance for Phyllis Michael Wong, author of We Kept Our Towns Going: The Gossard Girls of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Her 2023 award-winning book tells this seminal history through the voices of 100 women, assembly line workers who made bras, corsets, and girdles. Their collective stories stitch together a fascinating history spanning almost 6 decades (1920-1976) including the creation of quilts from factory remnants. Phyllis will share images and stories from her research including the heart-warming story of the Gossard memorial quilt project.
